Guest Post at Sheology: "Courageous Daughters”
We cannot give away what we have not received.
Raising girls, both young and older, teaches us more about ourselves than we perhaps ever imagined. As I read a post from Bo Stern regarding the way women are often treated, I wanted to raise my hands and shout, “YES, BO. YES!”
I started the Courageous Girls movement in response to a generation of pain and systemic patterns I had wearied of hearing about and treating in my counseling office. It took me nearly thirty years to find my own voice.
Add two daughters, a robust counseling practice, speaking, writing, and myriad other hats worn, I have learned that God has a plan for all His daughters and it often looks different than the confusing messages we hear inside, as well as outside of church walls. I began with Bo’s Monday Manifesto for women, with her permission, and took it a step further.
